For the longest time I've only had time to build a single landing page for my consulting business, TangledMESH. So I finally bucked-down and finished a slightly more robust site. The home page incorporates some video segments, but I've only got test video up right now. Please be patient. I'm in the process of making some great social marketing videos that will go live next week. I'll be doing interviews with marketers "doing it right" and exploring new marketing technologies that enable better customer engagement.
My goal with the new site is to bring across 3 key points about my business: the importance of building PASSION, ADVOCACY and INFLUENCE with your customers and stakeholders. I'd love to hear if you feel that goal was met.
Old school marketing never really wanted to get close to customers--that's what customer support is for, right?--but today's savvy marketers are expanding their view of the consumer engagement process and have begun to recognize the long-term benefit of building brand advocates out of customers. This requires a deeper level of interaction. Good news is, social media tools like blogs, viral video, twitter, text messaging and other personal content delivery services are making it feasible to reach broad numbers of consumers in a personal, bi-directional, uber-targeted way.
But you've got to be sincere in your approach. Engagement can't be faked, at least not for long. The "Marketing Team" must embrace customer engagement philosophically; measure it in new/different ways; commit to programs for enough time to realize return. Or, find a strong social marketing consultant to help, like TangledMESH... wink, wink.
